Edith’s French Bistro

Tucked away at the end of The Boardwalk at Granite Park, Edith’s French Bistro provides an elevated experience for those strolling through this relatively new dining district. With an expansive, lush patio, that seats 100 guests and features a large white fountain, the upscale eatery has an inviting spirit that calls diners to come in and try its excellent eats.

Edith’s lively aesthetic continues inside thanks to its whimsical décor. Not all restaurants could pull off an interior decorated with sparkling chandeliers and walls covered in faux greenery and all-white kitchen accessories, but the end result makes sense and gives off a unique energy. It sets expectations of how their chefs take common French ingredients and transform them into something new, not found elsewhere in Plano.

“We wanted customers to come in and feel like they were in a French garden,” Edith’s French Bistro General Manager Michael Griffith says.

That’s all before guests sit down and start perusing the menu. With breakfast (served all day), lunch, dinner and dessert options, and a large selection of cocktails, wine and beer, the menu is a several-pages-long affair.

There are several quick bites offered, like the Poulet Croissant, a crispy fried chicken served with raclette cheese sauce, egg and a house baked butter croissant, as well as sleek dishes accented with delicate details like the Poisson A L’Orange Halibut, served with beets, carrots and blood orange citron, and crispy fennel.

But the cuisine’s comfort foods, like Le Poutine, a pile of sweet potato frites topped with mozzarella curds, burgundy braised short ribs and brown gravy, and Champagne Mac ’N’ Cheese, topped with jumbo shrimp, fresh herbs, raclette cheese sauce, asparagus and a Parmesan crust, still shine through with their bold, creamy flavors.

For those who have tried Edith’s offerings at their first concept – Edith’s French Café at Mockingbird Station – expect to see a larger menu served in a bigger space. After seeing so many of their customers travel down from Collin County to enjoy their eats, Michael said the Edith’s team wanted to open their next location up north and expand their offerings to cater to Plano fans.

“The bistro has the full-blown menu,” Michael says. “We decided to bring about 25 percent more food options to the Plano location.”

Those additions feature traditional bites, like foie gras, which was not available at the café, and create a clearer vision of the restaurant’s offerings of French cuisine. And the extra square footage has given Edith’s the opportunity to add in a soufflé station, a crème station and house a wider range of pastries. There is also a private dining room that will be open for high tea service and available for other local gatherings.

It also offers a more relaxing space for people to sit, enjoy a bottle of champagne, listen to some live music and take in their surroundings. Edith’s team wants their guests to feel at home to enjoy themselves without breaking the bank on their meal.

“We have tables that sit there for three and a half hours that just sit and talk,” Michael says. “We wanted people to feel like they could come in, not spend a lot of money but still have that elegant feel of a restaurant.”

Make Edith’s French Bistro your next date night spot, or just stop in to pick up one of the pastries. The macaroons are enough of a reason to swing by after a night out on The Boardwalk.
