A one-stop destination

Day-To-Day convenience stores are a reality in the UAE. The low-budget shopping outlets are not only popular for down-to-earth pricing, but also for the variety and choice that shoppers get at any given point of time. Moreover, Day-To-Day stores have set new lifestyle standards as every product from garments to kitchen accessories and from cosmetics to stationery is abundantly available – and that too with a choice. Likewise, there is no dearth of display items, as well as wholesale packed foods and snacks. This makes the store a one-stop destination for people who fancy window-shopping, and have a long laundry list to take care of within their budget.
Rico Mondejar, the Day-To-Day Advertising and Promotions Officer, says that they plan to extend their reach and open a new store in Sharjah. The brand already has four major outlets in Dubai, namely at Union Metro Station, Deira City Centre, Fahidi and Baniyas, and the company plans to move to other emirates as well, shortly.
Day-To-Day is famous for its ambience and the choice it offers to its multicultural consumers. It is surely a preferred shopping place for people with different specifications and sophistication. Its first store was opened in 2007, and since then there has been no looking back. While the stores prices items from Dh1 to Dh20, it is must-visit place if you have to collect items from a wide range of offers. The speciality of the brand is that it keeps track of latest trends, technologies, and displays products on its shelves at very competitive prices.
Excerpts from an interview with Rico Mondejar:

Tell us about your concept behind opening this convenience store?
Consumers and shoppers will always look for better deals in shopping. To provide our shoppers with choices that would suit their budget, we are pricing the items from Dh1-Dh20 only. We pamper our shoppers with a wide variety of choices. Top quality goods are offered at a very affordable price.

How successful have you been in making it a brand name for ‘cheap and durable products’?
For a brand to be successful, we need to be on top of the mind of our consumers. Our success, as far as brand is concerned, is because of our mileage on television, radio, print, as well as advertisements and social media. We are also visible in the community by sponsoring events for a cause. The word of mouth spread by our delighted shoppers has reinforced our advertising campaign. Another factor that contributed to our success is that we are always offering promos to our shoppers.

What kinds of products are usually in demand, and how competitive is your store from other discount stores?
The big volume of sale comes from garments because we have good quality products that are priced affordably because we buy them in bulk. Most of our items comes from Turkey, China, Bangladesh, Thailand and locally as well. We also sell confectioneries now because of the demand from our shoppers.

Tell us about your future plans, and what more items do you plan to introduce?
We envision ourselves to be a buzzword when it comes to shopping in the UAE. We are planning to expand to other emirates, including Abu Dhabi. To serve our shoppers better, we will be providing them with more choices, as far as shopping is concerned, and we are also coming up with our own brand to be displayed in our chain of stores.
