Agawam cat sanctuary partnering with Savers for fundraiser

AGAWAM – At an upcoming fundraising event, a local cat shelter and a thrift shop are partnering up to collect donated goods.

On Jan. 20, supporters of the nonprofit Feline Friends Cat Sanctuary, in partnership with Savers Thrift Store of West Springfield, will set up shop in the cat sanctuary’s parking lot at 532 Springfield St. to collect donations from 9 to 11 a.m., a statement from the sanctuary said.

“Our winter FUNDrive is critical to helping us raise funds to help with the care and veterinary treatment of all our resident cats,” Ann Balbi, a volunteer at Feline Friends Cat Sanctuary, said in a statement. “We rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt out those animals that are considered ‘adoptable,'” and do not euthanize cats that are not considered fit for adoption, she added.

Among items FUNDrive volunteers are seeking are clothing, shoes, bedding, towels, CDs or DVDs, electronics (except for TVs), toys or games, kitchen items, sporting goods and other accessories, the statement said.

All donated items collected during the charity drive will be recycled by Savers, which will sell the items at the thrift store, the statement said.
