Annual Skaneateles Curbstone Festival Returns

Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Curbstone Festival and Sidewalk Sales are scheduled for next week. The ever popular event will feature more than 30 merchants with items ranging from men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, kitchen items, floral accessories, jewelry, art, home decor, and holiday furnishings.

Among the merchants will include Imagine, Fleur-de-lis Florist, Rhubarb Kitchen Shop, Infused!, White Sleigh, Gallery 54, Cate and Sally, and Country Ewe, just to name a few. For the first time ever shops  Love Skaneateles, Pride + Joy and F. Oliver’s will be participating. Shops will have sales and specials all weekend long.

Skaneateles Chamber Executive Director Tara Lynn notes there will be something for everyone in the family. Her three William, Jane, and Dawson displayed some balloon art provided by the Jackman Twins and there will also be other magic and kid’s events that the little ones can enjoy while their parents shop. The Jackman Twins will be around noon-4pm Thursday, noon-3pm Friday, and 11am-3pm Saturday.

Artist demos will also be taking place at Imagine and Skaneateles Artisans. The Skaneateles Community Band will be putting on a concert 7:30-8:30pm on Friday. To top it all off there will be lots of restaurants open and ready to feed the crowds. Starting at 11 a.m. each day, the Sherwood Inn will be grilling on the West Lawn, offering hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches.

Returning to Curbstone for its third year is the Skaneateles Duck Dash. The fundraiser will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday on Skaneateles Creek, behind the Fennell Street locations of Kinney Drugs and CVS. The carnival-like event will feature food and drink. There will be Chicago style hot dogs, pizza, fried dough, beer, wine and cider, games, and music by the Tumbleweed Jones Band.

There will be a lot of prizes for the winning ducks. The grand prize is $1,000 cash. The second-place duck will be awarded a one year family membership to Skaneateles’ YMCA; a golf package for the third-place duck; two tickets to Merry-Go-Round Playhouse for the fourth-place duck; $250 for the fifth-place duck; a half-day pontoon boat rental for the sixth-place duck; an overnight stay at the Holiday Garden Inn and a dinner gift for the seventh-place duck; an overnight stay at the Hilton Garden Inn for the eighth-place duck; a dinner cruise for two for the ninth-place duck; and a $100 Sherwood Inn gift card for the tenth-place duck.
