Chef Matt Bolus to Show Off New Hestan Cookware Tonight at Williams Sonoma

Photo: williams-sonoma.comLawdy, I’ve gone through all the cookware fads; from Calphalon to Emerilware to Farberware to All-Clad to copper to aluminum to cast-iron Le Creuset, I’ve owned them all. But I have never encountered the sort of enthusiasm I’ve heard from professional and home cooks about the latest development of Hestan NanoBond Cookware.

I’ve personally never tried any yet, but apparently it’s the bomb-diggity when it comes to scratch and stain resistance, durability and ease of cleaning. The manufacturers promise it is four times as durable as stainless steel, and that’s saying something. I already expect my Lodge cast-iron to survive longer than I do, (as long as nobody ever puts it in the dishwasher again — that still smarts), but these Hestans may be uncovered by future archaeologists someday.

According to the manufacturers, the pans are made when “multilayer structure of titanium-based alloys bonds directly to stainless steel through an environmentally friendly and chemical-free process, creating thousands of superdense nano layers on the cookware surface.” This means they also operate on induction cooktops, which are a hot trend in kitchen design.

To show off these new products, Williams Sonoma is hosting a chefs’ tour where local cooks across the country will do cooking demonstrations using the same pan. The tour kicked off in New York City and will end in San Francisco, so the Nashville stop, at the Williams Sonoma store in the Mall at Green Hills, will occur midway through the sojourn. Chef Matt Bolus from The 404 Kitchen will be performing the live demo here in town, beginning at 6:30 tonight, June 15.

This is a ticketed event, so you’ll need to go online to hold your spot. The demo is $15 and includes a taste of the food that Chef Bolus prepares, plus a copy to the recipe to take home. All proceeds from the tour benefit No Kid Hungry, and that’s a fantastic cause to support!
