Clean Cut Kitchen boss opens urban clothing store with 3D wall art and giant Game Boy console in Nottingham

Shoppers will need to grab a pair of 3D glasses to fully appreciate a new urban clothing store opened by the brains behind Nottingham’s Clean Cut Kitchen.

Alongside a giant playable Game Boy console, a rare £60,000 racing bike and comfy sofas, the Some Kind Of Nature (SKON) store, also has walls decorated in custom made 3D artwork – which will literally jump out at you.

The finishing touches – which will include more 3D wall art in the changing rooms and additional clothing stands – are still being made to the unit which officially opens on Saturday (November 25) in the upper mall of intu’s Victoria Centre, between Yankee Candle and Claire’s Accessories.

It is the latest venture for James Alexander Irons who alongside business partner Antonio Vendone runs new healthy eating takeaway Clean Cut Kitchen, tattoo parlour Neon Wolf, both in Derby Road, and pizza joint Suede, in Heathcoat Street, Hockley.

“We have been shifting units worldwide since 2013,” said James, who used local designers and building merchants to fit out the new store and produce the SKON fashion line, which includes 2 Surface Solutions, a specialist textile printers which has worked with Nottingham’s own Paul Smith.

James added: “We have been selling online and had a few pop-ups at Suede and Neon Wolf.

“We actually sell the most online stock in Scandinavia believe it or not but we we never really have given Nottingham a go, so we thought it was time.

“We are a truly independent brand hailing from Nottingham, created as the logical retail extension for our moto-obsessed, 80s-chase-scene-educated, truly independent UK lifestyle brand.

“So why not swing by, grab a pare of 3D glasses on your way in, kick some ass on Street Fighter Two and purchase yourself some awesome limited edition clothing, and become part of the SKON scene?”

To celebrate the store launch free drinks and pizza will be given away between 4-7pm alongside sticker packs and t-shirts.

SKON manager and graphic designer Holly Henry was please with how the store has come together.

She said: “I came in, in the morning and there was so much to do and then you star figuring out where things go and what looks good where… I’m really pleased with it.

“It’s so much better working for a smaller business, I feel like I have a say in things.”
