Hearth Cooking Demonstration

COVENTRY — Connecticut Landmarks’ Nathan Hale Homestead will host a beginner’s class on hearth cooking and what to do when the power goes out on Sunday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Gather in the historic working kitchen for this hands-on overview. Explore the different tools and techniques used to cook over an open fire, including Dutch oven cooking, a hanging pot, cooking skillets and a tin kitchen. Each guest will receive a keepsake recipe book of hearth meals so you can save your phone battery and the day with hearty cooking in a power outage.

Cost is $25 per person and $20 for CTL Members. Reservations are required as space is limited. Call 860-742-6917 or email hale@ctlandmarks.org to register. The Nathan Hale Homestead is located at 2299 South St. and is open for regular tours from May through October. Visit www.ctlandmarks.org for more information.
