Donate clothing, household goods at FUSF

FRANKLIN — Community members are invited to donate gently-used clothing and household items Oct. 13-15 at the First Universalist Society of Franklin (FUSF), 262 Chestnut St., Franklin.


All goods collected through the FUNDrive are sold to Savers, the parent company to thrift stores like Value Village, Unique, and Savers. Savers pays the church by the pound for every qualifying donation received. In turn, these items help keep the stores freshly stocked.

Donations can be dropped off Friday, Oct. 13 from 4-7 p.m. in the Dana Room (use side entrance); Saturday, Oct. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the FUSF parking lot, and Sunday, Oct. 15 from 9-10 a.m. in the FUSF parking lot

Items that can be donated include: Clothing and shoes; textiles: such as bedding, towels, sheets, blankets, curtains, tablecloths, placemats, woven rugs (if they can be folded and fit in contractor bag), etc.; accessories: jewelry, scarves, hats, mittens, belts, ties, socks, purses, wallets, backpacks, bags; electrical items: small appliances such as blenders, toasters, small microwaves, mixers, juicers, waffle irons, hairdryers, curling irons; toys/games/puzzles/stuffed animals – anything under 18”; kitchen items: utensils, dishes, pots, pans, cookie sheets, platters, glassware; knick-knacks: vases, crafts, candles, baskets, ornaments; household items under 18”: lamps, mirrors, picture frames, artwork; hand tools under 18”; sporting goods under 18”: gloves, balls, Frisbees, tennis rackets, hockey equipment.

The church cannot accept helmets due to liability. Other items that cannot be accepted include auto parts, tires, building materials including paint and painting supplies, cleansing products – for household and human use, hazardous materials, flammable materials, pesticides, baby gear – items that can be recalled due to safety issues – strollers, cribs, car seats, high chairs, etc., medical supplies – including crutches, wheelchairs, boots (used for broken ankles, etc.), larger exercise equipment – Nordic Trak, stationery bikes, etc.; soaps, perfumes, toiletries.
