Flowers dazzle at Michigan Regional Lily Society Lily Show 


The annual Michigan Regional Lily Society Lily Show will be held Saturday. Gardeners can bring their lily stems to enter and display from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. when the judging will begin. Everyone is welcome to attend the public viewing from noon to 1:30 p.m. This event is free, whether you wish to enter your stems or simply come to admire the beautiful lilies.  Ann Arbor Art Fair with artists, demonstrations, more

It’s back! The Ann Arbor Art Fair returns July 19 through July 22 with four art fairs that run consecutively: the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original; the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair; the South University Art Fair and the State Street Art Fair. This free event features more than 1,000 juried artists in ceramics, digital art, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, 2D and 3D mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood. Illinois-based furniture artist Steve Carlson will show his distinctive creations at the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original (Booth # WA824 on Washington). “I like to do something that’s different from what anyone else does,” he says about his unique pieces like the Ballerina table shown here and he also likes discovering new woods like quilted veneers. “Some have a 3-dimensional aspect to them that’s absolutely amazing.” Attendees can also enjoy artist demonstrations, art activities for all ages, live performances and street performers.
