RC Willey opens new store in Sacramento

Home furnishing retailer RC Willey has opened its 12th, state-of-the-art, full-service store in the new Delta Shores development in southwest Sacramento.

Built on 9.75 acres, the new store is 170,000 square feet and will employ 150 employees. An airy, modern two-story design features glass exterior walls and skylights and 14-foot ceilings on the ground floor.

With five home furnishing departments — furniture, mattresses, electronics, appliances and flooring — the store also includes a clearance center, kitchen and café serving fresh cookies, drinks and frozen yogurt.

RC Willey plans to begin construction soon on its next location in Layton, Utah.

Art Van busy with new flagship, other locations

Art Van Furniture has unveiled a dazzling new flagship store in Canton, its first showroom in Michigan to be built from the ground up in two decades. The furniture and mattress retailer is ushering in a new look with a dramatic two-story, 70,000-square-foot showroom.

Art Van Furniture also made its St. Louis entrance official with five ribbon cuttings at stores operated by its largest franchisee, Jay Steinback, in mid-February. The retailer marked the occasion with $1,000 donations to five charities — Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, Operation Food Search, Team Gateway to a Cure and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Another Art Van store opened in Deerfield, Ill., in late January.

Over the past year, nine countries have welcomed their first Ashley HomeStore, bringing the retailer’s international store count to a total of 45 countries.

“The Ashley HomeStore brand has sustained monumental growth, domestically and internationally, since we entered the retail arena more than 20 years ago,” said Todd Wanek, president and CEO of Ashley. “We are ecstatic to pass another milestone with the opening of our 800th store.”

Disney has pulled together home merchandise from across the Magic Kingdom and opened a Disney Home Store in Anaheim, Calif.

The store, which opened Feb. 14 at the Disneyland Resort in the Downtown Disney District, offers linens, glassware, tabletop, kitchen goods, pet accessories and other home-related merchandise. Key character themes featured include Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Peter Pan. The store will change its product offerings each season.

“The opening of the Disney Home store is a part of the continuous, promenade-wide transformation happening at the Downtown Disney District in 2018,” the company said on its Disney Parks blog.

Canterbury Cottage and Kids building second shop

Canterbury Cottage and Kids, a store that features furniture, accessories and custom florals for the home, will soon open a second location in Holland, Mich., according to the Holland Sentinel.

Owner Cindy Haight said the store — “more of a full-blown furniture store” — hopes to finish construction and open in April. The store will also include a design center where designers can work with clients.

Craft and Common eyes summer opening

A new shop will be combining home goods and coffee in downtown Orlando, Fla., this summer.

The home décor and accessories store Craft and Common will carry “curated modern home decor and accessories” and feature a specialty coffee bar, according to husband-and-wife owners Lindsay and Brandon Duensing.

The store will occupy a 2,200-square-foot space on Robinson Street in the site of a former coffee house. It plans to carry an assortment of home decor items, gifts, stationery and accessories emphasizing bright colors and graphic patterns.
