Restaurant News: First Watch opening another Sarasota location – Sarasota Herald

Sarasota-based company has grown to 306 restaurants in 26 states.

First Watch, the daytime cafe with corporate offices in University Park, is opening its eighth restaurant in Southwest Florida on Fruitville Road in the Target-based shopping center in December. The company has grown to 306 restaurants in 26 states.

The popular eatery with a slogan “yeah, it’s fresh,” offers made-to-order selections (no heat lamps or deep fryers) using as many locally grown ingredients as possible. The new restaurant’s decor will be “urban farm” blending farm fresh elements with a high energy, urban vibe.

The menu lists calories for each dish and provides healthy choices like avocado toast with basted eggs and a sunrise granola bowl with yogurt, fresh fruit and house-made granola. Among egg specialties are four benedicts, an egg sandwich with bacon, gruyere cheese and smashed avocado and breakfast tacos. There are various skillets, omelets and frittatas, plus a whole pot of coffee for each table.

The luncheon salads come with ciabatta toast and range from a superfood kale to a sweet honey pecan version with bacon and chicken. Among favored sandwiches, which are accompanied by mixed greens or soup, are the Monterey club, roast beef and havarti and a veggie burger.

The newest First Watch will be serving breakfast, brunch and lunch seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
