Taste some rum and help raise some funds

The Great Swamp Watershed Association is hosting a free “Caribbean Rum-Tasting Friendraiser” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday at their location at 568 Tempe Wick Road in Morristown.

Taste eight different rums and finger-foods from countries in the Caribbean; Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela. This event is free to nonmembers and members who bring a nonmember friend as a guest (members coming alone or with other members can join in on the fun too, for a donation of $25).

Woman’s Club to hold annual Rummage Sale fundraiser

The Woman’s Club of Morristown will hold its annual Rummage Sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at its headquarters, the Dr. Lewis Condict House, located at 51 South St.

There will also be a special Preview Party from 6-9 p.m. on Friday. All of the proceeds support the Club, its charitable programs, and the maintenance of the historic Condict house.

The Friday evening Preview Party gives shoppers first choice of the bargains.

Light refreshments will be served. There is a $10 admission fee for the Preview Party.

This year’s inventory includes clothing and accessories, jewelry, housewares, kitchen goods, artwork, antiques and collectibles, linens, lamps, toys, home decor, furniture, hardware, and a great deal more.

Discover early industrial crafts during event in Chester

The Morris County Park Commission will host “Industrial Crafts Day” from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Cooper Gristmill, located at 65 CR-513, Chester Twp.

Discover early industrial crafts with awesome hands-on activities and demonstrations by a blacksmith, tinsmith, tin piercers, weavers, and spinners. Crafters will have handmade pieces available for purchase.

Suggested donation is $3 per adult, $2 per senior (65+), $1 per child age 4 – 16 and free per child under age 4.

Join GSWA for a river journey paddling down the Passaic

The Great Swamp Watershed Association is hosting a “BYO Boat, Guided Paddle on the Passaic” from 9-11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Tours start at 1275 Blomfield Ave. in Fairfield and end at the Essex County Environmental Center, located at 621 Eagle Rock Avenue in Roseland.

Grab your kayak or canoe and join GSWA for an immersive river journey paddling downstream on the Passaic River. During the trip, explore the calm waters of the Passaic and learn about riverine habitat, the plants and animals specialized to this environment as well as some local history.

Boaters must bring their own boat, paddles and personal flotation device. No one will be allowed to join with a PFD, which will be inspected before the trip. Dress to get wet, including shoes, and bring your own water. Everyone will be asked to sign a waiver prior to participation.

Cost is $25 per person.
