Salvation Army sending mobile kitchens to Texas

Members of the Salvation Army in Palm Beach were at their administration office Monday night, preparing their mobile kitchen for the long trip to Texas.

“It’s like your kitchen at your house,” said Major Pierre Smith. “Whatever you can do at your kitchen, we can do it here.”

The mobile kitchen is inside a large van currently sitting in the Salvation Army parking lot in West Palm Beach.

Major Smith pointed out the two microwaves, the freezers, the ovens, and the skillets. The mobile kitchen also has running water from its own water source.

By 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, three members of the Salvation Army in Palm Beach will be inside the mobile kitchen, driving it to Pensacola.

In Pensacola, they will meet up with about ten other mobile kitchens from other Salvation Army branches around the state. Together, they will convoy to Texas.

Once in place in Texas, the mobile kitchens will each be able to feed 15-hundred people every day.

“That’s the key is helping others,” said Major Smith.
