Tesco has launched its own Le Creuset collection in glorious orange – for just a tenth of the price

Tesco has unveiled its own rival collection to French luxury kitchenware brand Le Creuset – and prices start at a family friendly £11.

The supermarket giant’s ‘Go Cook’ range hits stores today, and it includes casserole dishes, saucepans and roasting trays – for as little as a tenth of the price.

Also available to buy online, shoppers can invest in a round baking tin in dusty orange for £11 – that’s compared to Le Creuset’s £22 original.

Or get your hands on the iconic cast iron casserole dish for £45 – compared to rival Le Creuset’s £220 pot, but it’s 0.1L smaller.

The description writes: “This 4.6L casserole dish is made from cast iron, which provides completely even heat distribution and retention, so you can keep your food warmer for longer. The dish is coated in an orange enamel and has ergonomic handles to provide a comfortable grip.”

All items come with a 20 year guarantee.

Elsewhere shoppers who wouldn’t normally be able to afford the posh brand’s £140 regular rectangular roasting tin can invest in a copycat version at Tesco for £14 instead.

The similarities are uncanny!

It is not the first time the firm has come under threat from cheaper rivals.

Sainsbury’s also has a rival range – which starts at £20 and also comes in red and cream – but its selection is limited to casserole dishes and griddle pans only.

Its cast iron casserole dish is exactly the same size as Le Creuset’s version at 4.7L, but it’ll cost you £45 instead.

Shoppers can also invest in a miniature 3.3L pot instead for £35.

Or get the supermarket’s answer to Le Creuset’s signature casserole dish in deep red for £35 instead of the typical £79.

Amazon is selling this replica set for £50.99 – that’s about £17 each

On Amazon, there’s also the VonShef range – a red, black and grey selection of cast iron pots and pans. It sells Le Creuset style dishes with an enamel finish for £13.99 upwards.

All items are guaranteed to last a lifetime and you can currently get an entire three piece set – including a cast iron casserole dish, gratin dish and griddle pan for £50.99 instead of £94.99.

If it’s the cream one that takes your fancy, House of Fraser currently has a sale on its Linea range – which is down to £21 upwards online while Debenhams’ set called Home Collections is now 40% off .

Le Creuset, established in France in 1925, ranks alongside Farrow Ball paint as middle-class ‘must-haves’.

The brand also has a wide range of ‘small ticket’ items, such as egg cups, costing under £20.

A Tesco spokesman said: “We offer a complete range of exceptional quality, inspirational cookware within everyone’s reach.

“Every item has been carefully crafted to be practical and durable, and to help you achieve the best results.”

The one thing you won’t be able to do though, is have your dish customised with a luxe gold or copper knob, as can be done on the official Le Creuset website.
