This Is Nigella Lawson’s Favorite Cookware

When you’re learning how to cook at home, the range of cookware available to you can be daunting. Which pans last the longest? Are the more expensive appliances worth the investment? With so many options available, making a decision might seem impossible. Let Britain’s reigning domestic goddess, Nigella Lawson, be your guide: She did us all a favor, and revealed her favorite cookware.

In an interview with the New York Post, Lawson—who recently wrote that she should not be a called a chef, but rather a home cook—praised the two brands of cookware she always works with.

Saucepans

When it comes to saucepans (as well as oven trays), Lawson prefers a Finnish brand called Iittala Tools.

“They are as sturdy as they are beautiful,” she explains. “They manage to combine a ’70s chunkiness with sleek elegance — they are a cook’s dream: They conduct heat excellently and wash up easily.”

Cast Iron

For the rest of her cooking needs, Lawson sticks to a tried-and-true brand, Le Creuset. She even divulges which color from the extensive selection is her favorite.

“I have a particular fondness for Le Creuset enameled cast-iron cookware…It not only conducts heat so well, it also seems to get more flavor out of the food,” she says. “I slow-cook a lot in mine and however burnt they look inside, a bit of a soak in the sink and they clean easily. I somehow feel that the original ‘Volcanique’ orange can’t be improved on.”

Chef’s Knife

Lawson isn’t done dispensing advice, though. If you’re looking for a chef’s knife, you might try one from the Füri collection, her preferred brand.

“It’s comfortable and secure and has just enough heft, but is still light and easy to wield. They are also very beautiful to look at,” she says.

An essential ingredient

Lawson clearly wants the world the share in the cooking wisdom she has amassed over the years: She also revealed that she always keeps white miso in her refrigerator to add “caramelly richness and salty depth” to her dishes.
