This Kitchen Design Idea Is Subtle but Stunning

Accessories make the outfit, as the saying goes, and the same is true for kitchens. It’s the beveled edge of the marble countertops, the wink of shiny knobs, or the perfectly placed pot filler that take a space from okay to want-to-stay-here-forever. We’ve recently noticed a new kitchen design idea that falls into this subtle but stunning category: custom cabinet reveals, the unexpected strips placed between the countertop and the doors for a little extra something. Whether the edging is a color (we’ve come across a lot of black), metal, or wood, it feels luxurious and thoughtful, two welcome things in an ultra-functional space. Read on to see the reveals in action in a few gorgeous kitchens.

For a family’s Charleston kitchen, designer Angie Hranowsky created a 1 1/4-inch space between the Custom Creations walnut island and its Caesarstone top. “Then I had a brass strip made to wrap around this reveal,” she explains.

In this sleek space, black reveals give simple white Cantilever Interiors cabinets a graphic edge.
