Troy Night Out heats up with Hot Chocolate Hop

TROY, N.Y. The Collar City is kicking off the new year with a Hot Chocolate Hop for its monthly Troy Night Out festival.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Friday throughout downtown Troy, all are invited to shop, dine and explore. Visitors can warm up with a variety of one-of-kind Troy Night Out-only warm drinks while meeting local entrepreneurs, enjoying the unique spaces the city has to offer and hitting all the downtown hotspots.

Troy Night Out includes many firsts this month, including the premiere of a new line of gourmet hot chocolates at the Whistling Kettle. Celebrating its first Troy Night Out, Wooden Shoe Trading Co. will be serving coffee and Adirondack truffles while customers browse specialty gifts.

Classic hot chocolate, lavender hot chocolate, ginger hot chocolate, orange hot chocolate, Ghirardelli hot chocolate, spiced hot chocolate, hot apple cider, mocha lattes, spiced masala chai, Korean barley tea and even vegan turmeric golden milk will be served at local shops and eateries in keeping with the evening’s theme. Those 21 and older can also enjoy bourbon hot chocolate and dark chocolate brownies from little peck’s, red wine hot chocolate at Hudson-Chatham Winery and Special Boozy Mexican Hot Cocoa and International comfort food at The Shop.

TJ Soaps will even have chocolate bath bombs available, while other stores will have discounts on winter styles and accessories.

Troy Night Out also features some one-of-a-kind events like Hot Cocoa, Cashmere and Conversations at e ko logic; Hot-Chic-O-late specials at Bar Beauty Co.; Paint ’n Sip with exotic coffees at the Image Gallery of Troy, Ink Drink Hot Chocolate Night at Troy Cloth and Paper and an adult prom event, Troy Snow Ball ‘84, at Takk House. All are also welcome to help fight hunger with Victorious Life Christian Church at its 6th annual Soup-er Fundraiser, raising money for Provisions Food Pantry and His Table soup kitchen.

As with every Troy Night Out, there will be live music in different spaces around downtown, from rock to rhythm and blues and Latin to ’80s. The 3rd Street Shrieks will perform at 7 p.m. at O’Brien’s Public House, Kid Billy covers rock and ’90s songs at 8:30 p.m. at Troy Kitchen, and DJ One AyO brings Latin and electronic dance music late into the night at The Bradley Bar, while DJ Trumastr is hosting an 80s throwback dance-off at the new Franklin Alley Social Club.

Troy Night Out programs are available at participating downtown businesses, the Downtown Troy BID office or online at www.downtowntroy.org/troy-night-out. Listings are also available on the Troy Night Out mobile app. More information is available online at www.facebook.com/troynightout.
