When a China cabinet just won’t cut it: This Dallas hostess needs a whole room for her collection

“Both of my grandmothers love porcelain, and my mother loves porcelain, so I come by it honestly,” says Whitman, who says her passion for all things entertaining  was really ignited when she began planning her debutante ball. (Not long after, she launched a party rental business. Other business endeavors followed, including Halo Home, which makes monogrammed linens.)

Whitman cherishes pieces passed along from relatives, including orange-and-blue Imari items she fondly recalls from her childhood home.


Whitman won’t be surprised if daughter Millie continues the tradition. “The China Room is her favorite place to play,” she says.
